Trenner&Friedl TALIESIN Floorstander Loudspeakers
"I am a harmonious one; I am a clear singer. I am an artificer; I am a scientific one."
Taliesin 6th century
This loudspeaker has its origin in the very first beginning of Trenner & Friedl.
Even before! More than 25 years ago, Andreas Friedl designed a very big (and we mean BIG) loudspeaker for his own use, a reference, a giant of joy.
When he and Peter Trenner founded the brand, Taliesin (the grey) stayed with Peter for many years. It was the benchmark for all coming loudspeakers.
Now the 25th anniversary is on the horizon, and the friends did not want celebrate without a Taliesin. The task was to make a worthy successor of the awesome forefather.
It shall bear strength without limits, it shall be a bard, a fine spirit, a benchmark itself.

What goes in comes back out…
That it is the inner values that count in the end is an often heard and well-proven adage. Loudspeakers from Trenner & Friedl distinguish themselves not only in their perfectly finished exterior – the exceptional musicality of our products is built from an equally sophisticated and ingenious inner life:
The musical signal is received by generously proportioned, rhodium-plated pure copper Cardas terminals, then passed along through Cardas inner-cabling. Our crossovers are carefully hand-constructed from the finest elements:
- Premium Mundorf capacitors, for long life, faster response and balanced tone,
- baked-lacquer coils, flat copper coils with extremely low skin-effect,
- metal-film resistors for purest reproduction of high-frequencies.
We treat the paper cones of our low-frequency drivers with seven layers of Italian oil varnish, in order to optimize elasticity, damping and stiffness, and reduce cone resonances and distortion.
Simply stated: only that which you put in comes back out – our loudspeakers
LESS IS MORE
So many HiFi products are designed with an eye towards – good question, really… We so often are confronted with technical-looking monsters that fit into a living room about as well as a production-line assembly robot.
Most listening rooms in this world are living spaces – spaces in which, “among other things,” we listen to music. We pay attention to this: with their peaceful, modest, yet modern forms, our loudspeakers integrate easily into almost any living room environment.
Design cannot just be its own sole purpose. It requires a focus. And perhaps our view of HiFi is best compared with a bookcase: stylish, unassuming, yet meaningful, a pleasant part of the room – just that, instead of reaching for something to read, if desired, one can select a piece of music…and, oh, such music!
Flying High
Our high-frequency drivers, designed and developed in-house are something to be proud of. Why? The short answer is:
open, natural sound, gentle and extremely fine nuances combine with powerful efficiency that can effortlessly reproduce a HiHat at its original live volume, or even more.
Naturally, not wishing to withhold the exact technical details – here is the long answer:
In our high-frequency drivers, a large neodymium ring-magnet drives a TiN (titaniumnitride)-coated 1.75” Titanium diaphragm. Titanium is particularly light, rigid, resilient and temperature and corrosion resistant. The coating is applied via PVD (physical vapor deposition) in a vacuum chamber.
We thereby achieve an elasticity 6X greater than Titanium and twice as great as beryillium! TiN is used incidentally for coating tools and weapons. It is highly durable and offers optimal dissipation of heat.
This membrane, in combination with a large voice-coil, yields a light and highly durable driver, whose precise reproduction remains linear up to the highest frequencies.
Sound travels through a highly-sophisticated channel into a 1” horn mouth, which in the RA leads directly into the large horn of the coaxial bass driver. In Duke and Isis, the sound is guided by our proprietary tractrix-function horn. This is CNC-milled from solid aluminum billet into a thick-walled, two-piece horn for the purpose of reducing resonances.
The result is very, very linear output, even at the highest volumes. Extremely low distortion combines with high output ability.
LIVE LONG AND PROSPER
Previous loudspeakers mostly employ surrounds made of rubber or foam, which over time through the evaporation of softeners and because of UV radiation eventually become porous and crumbly.
The surrounds of many of our drivers are now made out of fabric. This guarantees high stability, extended consistency, and exceptional longevity.
Modesty as Ornament
Ra, Pharoah and Isis can be driven wonderfully with lower-power amplifiers, thanks to their high sensitivities of 91-95 dB – therefore, they are the best choice for use in a tube system.
Furthermore, our new line presents a very simple impedance curve to the loudspeakers, thus providing a load that is extremely easy to drive, which can give even more modestly-priced amplifiers wings to achieve their highest performance.
LISTENING ROOM, LIVING ROOM
Many HiFi manufacturers have a problem – they live in a world of listening rooms. Most of us, however, live in living rooms and wish to also hear music there – a conflict that naturally leads to problems.
We design our products to be “living room friendly,” they are designed such that they may be placed as close as 10 cm (4”) away from the wall.
And while, because of their radiation characteristics, small or narrow loudspeakers are difficult to integrate into a living space, ours deliver more direct radiation to the listening space via their wide front baffle – therefore, you can enjoy superb music, yet continue “living” in the room as before… actually, in fact, better.

STANDARD VENEERS
The Austrian Walnut is our most beloved veneer. We can offer it in different flavors.
It is carefully selected and matched, the thickness is higher than commonly used for this purpose. The finish is of natural matt. For the ultimate haptic result we sand the surface very finely with maple veneer.
Please hold in mind: Wood is a natural thing and each veneer is unique as a fingerprint.
SPECIAL VENEERS
We can individualize your loudspeakers!
Almost any veneer, colour or finish is possible.
Except exotic woods and other environmentally unsustainable materials. Our ECO veneers are composites of domestic wood.
If you want something special, made just for you, we'll do our best.
